CityLax Dialogues: Breaking Down Walls, One Ground Ball at a Time Tuesday June 9th, 2020 at 7:00 pm. ZOOM VIDEO! In the wake of the murder of George Floyd and many others, there has been an outpouring of African-American lacrosse players speaking out about racial injustices in this country, as well as personal testimony of racism within the sport of lacrosse. In the interest of standing in solidarity with them and our student athletes in NYC we will be staging a ZOOM panel formatted dialogue with several participants, our student athletes, and the lacrosse community. Engaging in meangingful dialogue is a critical component to taking steps to learning about empathy in the midst of horrific racial injustices, and pathways towards unity, understanding, and shared love of sport. Jules Heningburg, PLL Star, last week published a powerful article in US Lacrosse Magazine and Video (click to read) about his experience as a bi-racial person, and his journey navigating life and lacrosse in a predominantly white sport. Also on the panel we will feature: Nigel Andrews (Harvard), Brittany Brown (UPenn), Jonathan Mevs (Maryland), Carter Henry (Yale) and Chad Toliver (Rutgers). Eamon McAnaney (SNY, ESPN) will be our moderator. The hope is that in sharing their stories all will come away with perspective and new awarenss to bring into the world and our sport. JOIN US! ALL ARE WELCOME! Register for this ZOOM Meeting As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me, I am always available as a resource to you. Have an idea for a regional story or some pictures to share? Please send them my way!! Stay healthy and enjoy your day!
