The John Pappas Memorial Fund

The JP Memorial Committee is seeking both monetary donations and/or donors who can purchase custom pavers as part of the design, creation, building and installation of a memorial in honor of John Pappas. Link to the Paver purchase below.

John dedicated his life to growing the participation, enthusiasm, and love of lacrosse in both children and adults alike. His love of the game and his ties with the tight-knit lacrosse community led him to run countless clinics, tournaments, charity events and leagues.

In 1979 he created the Cantiague Summer Lacrosse League. During his 40+ years as the director of the league, it was widely recognized as one of the premier adult lacrosse leagues in the country.

This memorial will be placed on the grounds of Cantiague Park next to the American Flagpole that sits in front of the turf fields that are currently used for this league.

The Memorial Park will consist of a rock with a bronze plaque and a walkway with benches. Besides monetary *donations to our cause, there will be other opportunities in which donors can express their gratitude for what John did for the game of lacrosse in our community. Fundraising Opportunities

  • One (1) 4′ Granite Bench with a Bronze Plaque with the custom engraving of your message. $3,500.00 (3-4 lines x 16 letters/spaces per line)
  • Custom 8″ x 8″ Pavers $ 200.00 each (6 lines x 14 letters/spaces per line)
  • Custom 4″ x 8″ Pavers $ 125.00 each (3 lines x 14 letters/spaces per line)

There are many pavers available, but only one bench. If you are interested in purchasing a Paver or Bench, please indicate that in the comment section when making your donation. Then click on the following link and download the form (Fillable PDF) that needs to be completed and sent (mailed or emailed) to the committee. Forms received by April 1st will be included in the first run of Pavers. After April 1st, Pavers will be completed in batches of a hundred and added to the walkway. Pavers take approximately 6-8 weeks to complete.
